A pallet lorry that struggles over a dock plate, catches on a damaged floor or leaves a load sitting too high soon slows the whole warehouse down. The best pallet lorries for warehouses are not simply the ones with the biggest stated capacity. They are the ones that suit your pallet size, floor condition, daily mileage and the people using them.
For most UK stores, workshops and distribution areas, a well-built hand pallet lorry remains the quickest, most cost-effective way to shift palletised stock. Where loads travel further, ramps are involved or movements are constant, electric assistance can protect productivity and reduce physical strain. The right choice starts with the job, not a spec sheet.
Start with the load, not the advertised capacity
Capacity is the first figure most buyers see, and it matters. A 2,000kg or 2,500kg-rated hand pallet lorry will cover a large share of standard warehouse work. But the safe working load is only useful when the pallet is sound, the load is stable and the weight sits evenly across both forks.

Electric pallet lorries come into their own when travel distances increase, loads are heavier or the same movements happen repeatedly through the day. Powered travel reduces the effort required to move stock and can help operators maintain a steadier pace. This matters where staff are moving pallets between buildings, across larger warehouses or up loading ramps.
The decision is not just about speed. Consider duty cycle, charging arrangements, operator training and the space available for turning. Keep performance high after purchase
